California DAR Awards

DAR awards a variety of scholarships through the DAR Scholarship Committee. All applicants must be citizens of the United States and must attend, or plan to attend, an accredited college or university in the United States. All scholarships of four or more consecutive years are renewable only upon review and approval of annual transcript by respective DAR chairmen. Scholarships are available in these areas: Political Science, History, Government, Economics, Nursing School, and Medical.

California DAR offers a special scholarship, funded by an endowment, available to all high school and college students. This scholarship is given to a graduating high school senior with at least a 3.0 grade point average, who is planning an American History or Political Science major in college. This scholarship will be considered for renewal for a period not to exceed four years on evidence of maintaining a 3.0 average in the major subject and of being a full-time student with a minimum of 12 units per term. The minimum scholarship awarded is $1000. For more details, please review the application form.

Additionally, The Robert Hunter Swadley Horticulture Scholarship is for graduating high school seniors with a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale who will be entering an accredited college or university located in the United States as a freshman with a major in horticulture. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen residing in the state of California. The scholarship shall cover full or partial tuition and full or partial funding for room and board, books and educational supplies. The actual amount of the scholarship will be determined each year based on the income generated by the principal of the fund.
